Significant changes were made on Turkish Citizenship Law. These amendments, which came into effect upon being published in the Official Gazette dated 12.01.2017, eased the way for foreign people making investments in Turkey to become Turkish citizens.
The Council of Ministers' decision provides foreigners meeting one of the following requirements with the Turkish citizenship:
a) Foreigners who make a fixed capital investment amounting to at least USD 2,000,000,
b) Foreigners who buy a real estate amounting to at least USD 1,000,000 and annotate that they will not sell that very real estate for three years,
c) Foreigners who provide an employment opportunity for at least 100 people,
d) Foreigners who deposit at least USD 3,000,000 to a bank located in Turkey, provided that they keep that money there for 3 years,
e) Foreigners who buy state debt instruments amounting to at least USD 3,000,000, provided that they keep them for 3 years.
